Transmission 2005

GB0MPS - 23rd 24th September 2005

Planning this event started in July 2005. The AIM was to sponsor British Wireless for the Blind after a 2 year break. To keep costs to a minimum, and a change of location it was decided to take the event to Hendon North London. Various permissions had to be gained first for the use of the site (being the home of The Metropolitan Police Training College).

1. Authority from the Commander.
2. Permission to allow the students and staff to sponsor the event.
3. Authority from the communications branch.
4. Warnings sent to Air support unit.
5. Security clearance for members of the Society

All was gained over a period of time, to run the station for 24 hours. It was decided that this would be 10:00am Saturday through to 10:00am Sunday. A total of 17 members arrived throughout various times of the day and evening.

Equipment: - Yaesu MP1000 & SGC Smartuner (M0AZZ Tony)
Yaesu FT 847 (G7THT Les)
Trap Dipole (G8WWI Paul)
HF Vertical (Club)
Party Tent (Woodmans L/Rover Club)
Long wire 300Mtrs M0KPB Ken)
Plus loads of other gear begged borrowed and stolen from everywhere.

A total of £444.60 was raised and sent by the end of September. Now all that needs to be completed are the QSL cards for dispatch.
My thanks to all that helped attended and operated. Special thanks must go to the catering branch for their support throughout the event.
